The vision

The simple vision of the Market is to: Live the Lifestyle

This vision statement attempts to reflect the essence of the Market. Tropical paradise, relaxed, fun, vibrant, creative, alive, entertaining; all of these encapsulate aspects of what the market creates during each night of operation

The Markets

The Market Is recognised by the National Trust as an Icon of National Significance

With over 500,000 visitors a year, the Market enjoys the largest number of visitors to any attraction in Darwin.

It easily surpasses Kakadu’s annual figures and on a pro rata basis beats the iconic giant Uluru

The Market is committed to providing an environment where community groups are encouraged to be involved

History

In 1987 six people’s vision to bring a taste of Asia’s night markets to Australia came to fruition. Once the market was established with 20 food stalls and 20 art & craft stalls, the founders helped the stallholders form their own independent, non profit association to administer the growth and development of the market
